Happy new year everyone! Only 40 years to the next power of 2. However your 07 may have been, lets make 08 a good one. Go set yourselves some resolutions or something. Remember though, whatever people may say about aiming for the stars, it's a sure-fire way to miss. And if you did hit, you'd just get incinerated. Real goals are things you know you're capable of, as long as you have the motivation. That assumes, of course, that you know what you're capable of. If you don't that's a good place to start.
Guess I'll do some of the traditional nonsense. I'll put it in the read more, strictly optional reading.
2007 in review
It's been a pretty good year overall. Uni was better than expected, and my job is much better than expected. I've probably made a record number of friends this year, more than the times I moved house. Partly because, though I doubt many people would believe it, I'm easier to talk to now than I used to be. Still, if it wasn't for a couple of years of being a loser I probably wouldn't be the programmer I am today. Also of note is my carefully calculated conversion to some sort of atheism early in the year. I now believe that no one has any actual answers, but I commend everyone for trying, and please let me know if you've got anything concrete that you think would interest me.
Now for some stats:
- ~31.5 million seconds
- 37 posts this year (one every ~10 days, pretty slack)
- 3 games (not enough)
- 3 new programming languages
- 8 engineering papers
- 7.625 GPA
- Lots of friends
- 1 person who thinks I'm hot
- 3 or 4 people pissed off at me at some point
- 1 person I hate (but not that much)
- 0 social networking sites used
- All but one song on expert in guitar hero 2, including bonus tracks
- 13 statistics
Resolutions
- Open up a bit
- Fabricate some opinions
- Set up an exercise routine again
- Make 3 games again (or more), but better ones than last year
- GPA over 8
- Become familiar with at least 2 new programming languages
- Do some more research, and finally post something remotely technical about the voxel renderer
- Develop my lack of artistic talent somehow
- Show someone some love
