Contest LogsFirstly, my exams are over! On the whole I think they went pretty well. It helps having friends who study loads.

Now, to the point: I'm on holiday, so I'm going to make some games. Note that plural. If I can make a simple game in under 48 hours using only open source libs, it would probably be quite a bit easier doing the same with my own engine. Adapted to 2d of course. So I'm going to give myself 4 days to adapt the engine, then start making little games. That's the plan anyways. I won't make any promises about how many games will result from this thing, but rest assured that I do have my goals. First game should be started by next Wednesday (20th).

But I need your help! Anyone that reads this thing (i.e. 2 or 3 people if I'm lucky), I need you to give me some themes. Themes are things like: ponies, side scroller, midnight, laser, geometry, plantlife, etc. Good ones tend to be short and unclear, restricting what would fit the theme (e.g. 2d is a bad one) but leaving the game open to the imagination (e.g. mario is a bad one). Post your themes in the comments! Please.

ok, less of a theme, more like an overall concept. came to me real quick whilst thinking about something 2d. but it seems real cool to me

an overtop view looking straight down a la the original grand theft auto games. On the playfield is 2d whack a mole style game that can have a static pattern of numerous holes or a dynamic one depending upon the direction you take.

It should be a floating mallet under mouse control to play the game with.

The trick here is that it will play like simon where you have to memorize the patterns that the moles come out of their holes and jump out. and you have to whack the corresponding holes they come out of, and as you get each corresponding pattern right a mole will fly out of a random hole and you have to whack his ass before he gets back into his hole. Then the game lets you proceed to the next stage of difficulty.

    simple enough mate :D

take care bro... let me know if you like it.

Sounds fine, I'll include it in the random selection in about 3 minutes. It would almost be cheating if it comes up, because "from start to finish in x hours" should really include the whole game design, but I can live with that.
